Westhoughton Town Council awards grants of up to £500 to community organisations.

This is the form to complete if your group or organisation is applying for a grant. Grants will be paid when the items have been purchased and the invoice/s have been submitted to the Town Clerk. We've provided guidance notes which will help you answer the questions.

About your grant application

Explain why you require the grant and how it will benefit your organisation and any benefit to the local community.

How much will the project cost? Please include all the elements and costs.

Be realistic and include three written estimates. The Town Council will not fund salaries / wages / support worker / staff costs / staff / volunteer expenses / utilities / running costs, e.g. rent / rates / council tax / insurance

How much funding do you require from the Town Council?

The maximum grant allocation is £500, unless the project warrants exceptional circumstances. The Town Council does not guarantee to fund the full amount and groups must try to have fundraising events.

If there is a difference between the total project cost and the amount of this grant request, where will you find the shortfall?

If you are currently funded by anyone else, please tell us by who and the amount received.

Three written estimates for each item for which you seek funding

The last two years audited Annual Accounts plus the latest bank statement. New groups should submit the latest bank statement / bank book showing all receipts and payments

Terms and conditions

The Town Council will be unable to proceed with the grant application until all of the above information has been supplied.

Groups must try to seek other sources of funding. The amount of any previous town council grants awarded, the length of time between applications and the group's fundraising activities will be taken into account when the grant application is being considered.

Groups must comply fully with the terms of a grant awarded and any breach will jeopardise future applications.

The offer of a grant will be automatically withdrawn if paid invoices / receipts are not submitted to the Town Clerk within 12 months of the date of the grant being approved.

Grant applications will be considered at the next appropriate Town Council meeting.
