A busy weekend for the Mayor of Westhoughton

Westhoughton Town Mayor, Cllr Neil Maher was proud to represent Westhoughton at the following events this weekend:

Friday 14th June - Funeral of Sgt Andrew David Collier,

Saturday 15th June - 21st Birthday Celebrations of Daytrippers,

Sunday 16th June - Father’s Day Event hosted at Brookfield Hall.

Cllr Maher reflected on Friday’s Funeral of Sgt Collier saying “I had the honour to attend as Town Mayor of Westhoughton and as a former member of the Army the military funeral service of Sgt Andrew Collier along with the three Mayors of Blackrod, Horwich and Bolton. It was a sad occasion, but one which the forces do well to honour those who pass whilst serving. The Eulogy given by RSM Nelsen highlighted the value Andrew added to each unit he served in and how well he was respected by all who served with him. RIP Andrew.”

Saturday Evening, Cllr Maher was honoured to attend alongside the Bolton and Horwich Town Mayor’s the Daytrippers 21st Anniversary and fundraising event. Daytrippers (Bolton) are a parent and carer led charity that provides mutual support and companionship via days out and activities to families who have children with disabilities.

Sunday Afternoon Cllr Maher attended Brookfield Hall’s Father’s Day event, giving a short speech about family and the importance of love and not gifts for Father's Day.
