The Mayor at The Hoggery!

On Sunday afternoon, at the end of a busy weekend, I was invited as Mayor of Westhoughton to ‘The Hoggery’ event at the Hub. ‘The Hoggery’, run by the dedicated and skilled Jayne Schofield, is a hedgehog rescue and rehabilitation centre based in Westhoughton and is one of my Mayor’s Charities for this year. 

Jayne did a short illustrated talk and then introduced us to a rescued hoglet, which she is hand rearing, and a fully grown injured hedgehog which is living in Maz Lines’ garden, hopefully to be released when fully recovered. 

The event was well attended by adults and children who enjoyed the talk and the activities on offer. I enjoyed reading some of my hedgehog stories to the children and to talk to them about our shared love of hedgehogs.’
