VE Day Competition

Written by Cllr Gillian Wroe, Mayor of Westhoughton ‘On Monday I was delighted to attend the assembly at St Bartholomew’s Church of England Primary School to present an Art Competition prize. The competition was run by Westhoughton Town Council and the Westhoughton Branch of the Royal British Legion to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

 Marcus Pollard, Chair of RBL, and I had difficulty in choosing the winners, the standard was so high. 

One of the winners was Lila, pictured here receiving her prize from me, with the runners up also proudly displaying their work. 

Thank you to everyone at St Bartholomew’s for making me feel so welcome. 

I especially loved the very energetic song you sang with lots of actions and jumps!’
